Job Summary:
The Preschool Paraprofessional Substitute aids in classroom preparation and the supervision of children during activities in the Preschool program; gives individual attention and support to each child based on varying needs and abilities; maintains a safe, clean, organized classroom environment and performs other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the supervisors.

Qualifications:
Education in and/or experience working with young children; understanding of preschool child development; good communication, cooperation, self-direction, and organizational skills; ability to work effectively with other staff members; punctuality and dependability

Work is performed in a school environment, using standard equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a school setting.

Hours & Compensation:
Substitutes are on an on-call basis. Hours vary from 3 hours a day to an 8 hour shift. Substitute needs are year-round.
SEIU Contract
Rate: $21.30 per hour.
