The Caregiver/Paraprofessional provides direct, daily supervision and therapeutic support to children and adolescents with significant mental health and behavioral health needs in a Level 3 group home setting. This role is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment while implementing individualized service plans and behavioral interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide continuous supervision of residents, including completion of required 15-minute safety checks and close monitoring during high-risk times or behaviors
- Implement individualized service plans, behavior support plans, and crisis intervention strategies as directed by clinical staff
- Utilize appropriate de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication to manage aggressive, disruptive, or unsafe behaviors
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean living space
- Transport residents to and from school, medical, and therapeutic appointments as required
- Support and reinforce development of coping skills, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and social skills
- Maintain a structured daily routine, including educational support, recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities
- Accurately document all interactions, behaviors, incidents, and services provided in accordance with Medicaid and agency standards
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, Associate Professionals, and the multidisciplinary treatment team regarding resident progress and concerns
- Follow all safety protocols, including responding appropriately to crises, incidents, and mandated reporting requirements
- Model appropriate behavior, boundaries, and professionalism at all times
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred)
- Experience working with children/adolescents with mental health, trauma, or behavioral challenges preferred
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks and required trainings (e.g., CPI, First Aid/CPR)

This position operates in a Level 3 therapeutic group home, requiring a high level of structure, supervision, and behavioral support. The role may involve managing verbal aggression, physical behaviors, and crisis situations while ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
