What are the responsibilities and job description for the Log Line Operator position at Hood Plywood?
The Log Line Operator will play a critical role in the plywood manufacturing process. It is the Log Line Operators job to ensure the log line is working properly while operating within company policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This position will require multi-tasking and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the long line is in proper operating condition to process logs for the first step in the process of manufacturing veneer for plywood.
- Communicates regularly with team and management concerning log processing issues.
- Monitor log processing equipment and systems constantly to minimize unplanned down time.
- Preform quality checks on the long line for overall performance.
- Meet quality standards and communicate with management concerning issues.
- Work with minimal supervision in a safe a productive manner
- Adhere to all safety, health, and company policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support the implementation of a reliability maintenance and continuous improvement culture across the facility.
- Performs basic maintenance checks on the log processing equipment, identifying potential equipment malfunctions, and coordinating with maintenance personnel for repairs.
- May also have additional responsibilities related to the operations of the plant as assigned.
Job Preferences/Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Manufacturing experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
- Experience working with wood products.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must be able to do basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Have good knowledge of plant/manufacturing processes.
- Perform tasks such as lifting, kneeling, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day
- Must be able to work in a noisy, non-temperature-controlled environment.
