Hood Plywood, a division of Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a People Operations Specialist for our Wiggins, MS facility. This position will provide support to the mill’s People Operations (HR) department. The primary duties include, but are not limited to the following: Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in the recruitment efforts including but not limited to internal job advancement and external job openings, interviewing, screening applicants, onboarding, etc.
- Conducts background checks, drug testing, employee eligibility verifications.
- Administers the mill’s leave of absence program to include FMLA leave requests and tracking.
- Monitor and track employee time/attendance records for inconsistencies and provide guidance for correction actions.
- Updates employee files to document personnel actions and provides information for payroll and other uses.
- Performs diversified clerical and administrative activities in support of the mill’s human resources department.
- Provides assistance with updating and/or preparing reports.
- Communicates benefit information to employees and answers employees’ questions.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential.
- Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
- Coordinates processing of mill’s unemployment claims.
- Administers and scores employment testing.
- May facilitate and/or provide training to the workforce.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous time and attendance system (Kronos) experience and experience with applicant tracking software (JobVite) preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources administration or related field.
- Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Salary : $54,000 - $80,000
