Shipping Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Responsibilities

At Hood Container - Lebanon we are looking for a Shipping Supervisor – 2nd Shift. T his role is an hourly role reporting to the Shipping Manager. You will be an integral part of our Shipping Management Team which includes a Shipping Manager, two Shipping Supervisors (one for each of 2 shifts), and one Shipping Clerk. As the 2nd Shift Shipping Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

• working with the Shipping Manager to identify priorities for the 2nd shift
• managing a team of forklift operators to perform the duties assigned to meet the priorities set
• ensuring proper loading and unloading of trailers
• conducting cycle counts on a weekly basis
• ensure that all 'take-off' lines are clear before leaving for the night
• electronically verify hours worked by the 2nd shift Shipping team on a daily and weekly basis
• approve vacation requests as workload dictates
• ensure the warehouse area is kept clean and orderly
• serving as a backup to other Shipping Management Team members.

What It Takes

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Five-years’ experience in a manufacturing and shipping environment required.
• Ability to multi-task and produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to supervise through coaching, inspiring employees to perform at their best.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with a highly diverse environment.
• Ability to retain technical information.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Products and experience with diverse shipping platforms. Experience with Amtech would be an advantage.
• Self-starter and team player.
• General high level of enthusiasm and creative ability.

• Maintain the highest levels in safety, quality and housekeeping standards.
• Interact with customer service and production for smooth, total quality order shipments.
• Process paperwork accurately for outgoing shipments in a fast-paced environment.
• Oversee loading and unloading of trailers.
• Protect and keep product free from damage.
• Participate in monthly physical inventory procedures, even when that requires a Saturday.
• Receive product with accuracy and on a timely basis in our Manufacturing & Shipping database - Amtech.
• Perform all tasks assigned by the Shipping Manager.
