OverviewThe Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Coordinator serves as the central link between production/operation, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams. Their purpose is to ensure equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to operations Roles and Responsibilities
- Safety and Preparation
- Ensures systems are being followed to secure and prepare equipment for work
- This includes managing and maintaining lock-out/tag out systems and procedures.
- Ensure all required operations materials, permits, and labor resources are ready before work begins.
- This includes but is not limited to hot works, confined spaces, sniffers, line break permits, lockouts procedures, and lockout supplies.
- Ensures systems are being followed to secure and prepare equipment for work
- Work Coordination, Scheduling, and Work Order Management
- Lead the daily maintenance and production coordination meetings.
- Work with day maintenance to develop and maintain daily, weekly, and shutdown maintenance schedules.
- Prioritize work orders based on safety, production impact, and asset criticality.
- Review, screen, and approve incoming work requests for clarity and priority.
- Coordinate operations to secure equipment downtime windows for maintenance.
- Must have the ability to identify items that can be secured “on the run” vs items that require a “shut down” to execute.
- Operations and Maintenance Planning and Support
- Serve as the primary communication link between production crews and maintenance teams
- Communicate equipment issues, downtime needs, and maintenance priorities to and from operations crew
- Communicate to shift supervisors what needs to be prepared on night shift for day maintenance to execute on time.
- Develop detailed outage plans for operations that outline lockout needs, operational outage task details, and personnel responsibilities. This is the roadmap to keep operators on task and on schedule for outages.
- Assist in developing job plans for recurring tasks and major repairs. Examples would include helping develop clothing change SOPs for wires and felt changes.
- Interpret operator’s troubleshooting information and make sure it is accurate when communicating it to maintenance.
- Participate in root cause analysis for equipment and process failures.
- Identify chronic equipment and operational issues and help implement long term solutions.
- Document changes, delays, and lessons learned for future planning.
- Document key equipment changes and learnings to prevent repeat failures.
- Materials and Inventory Coordination
- Manage process chemical inventories such as acid, alum, and specialty chemicals like batch wash.
- Work with Admin Assistant and Operational Support Leads to order storeroom materials and track critical spares and operations materials
- Shower nozzles, refiner plates, machine clothing, doctor blades, etc.
- Shovels, pressure washers, ropes, other materials
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required, additional Vocational Training a plus.
- Past experience in Mechanical Maintenance.
- Knowledge of PCs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
- 2 years Paper Mill Supervisory experience preferred
