Hood Construction, a well‑established general contractor headquartered in Columbia, SC, is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team. With more than 30 years of excellence across the Southeast, we deliver high‑quality commercial construction projects in sectors including healthcare, K‑12 education, historic renovation, hospitality, municipal work, and a diverse range of commercial developments.

This role is ideal for a results-driven leader with a passion for overseeing complex projects from concept to completion.

About The Role

As a Construction Project Manager at Hood Construction, you’ll oversee the full life cycle of commercial construction projects—from pre‑construction planning through turnover and closeout. You will manage project budgets, schedules, safety, procurement, and quality control while coordinating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

Your work will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, within scope, and in compliance with building codes, OSHA regulations, and Hood Construction’s rigorous quality standards.

Responsibilities

In this full‑time role, you will:

• Lead and coordinate all phases of commercial construction projects, including budgeting, bidding, contract administration, and field supervision
• Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project schedules using industry‑standard tools
• Conduct regular site visits to ensure job site safety, compliance, and quality
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and construction superintendents to address field challenges
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and all project documentation
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and stakeholders
• Lead project meetings and deliver clear progress updates to internal leadership and clients
  
  

Qualifications

We’re seeking candidates with:

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred)
• 5 years of commercial construction project management experience, ideally with ground‑up or renovation projects in healthcare, education, hospitality, or municipal sectors
• Strong understanding of construction methods, codes, materials, and contracts
• Experience managing large-scale commercial projects from estimating through closeout
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar platforms
• Exceptional leadership, organization, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• PMP certification is a plus, but not required
