Food Access Program Manager

HONORehg
Middletown, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 10/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/14/2027

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the Chief Program Officer, the Food Access Program Manager leads HONOR’s emergency food pantry in Middletown and works with the Executive Team to develop and launch a mobile food pantry serving underserved rural communities in Sullivan, Ulster, and Dutchess counties. The Manager establishes and strengthens operational systems, expands access to nutritious food, and oversees program quality, financial accountability, and compliance with grant and food assistance requirements.

In collaboration with the Executive Team, the Manager implements a van-based program that initially distributes food packages and offers Social Care Network (SCN) screening and navigation. This includes identifying communities with limited food access, establishing routes, schedules, and community host sites, and developing partnerships with food banks, farms, vendors, and local organizations. The Manager builds the systems needed for reliable service and supports the program’s future expansion into a mobile grocery van offering groceries and potentially prepackaged and prepared meals. Working within the direction established by the Executive Team, the Manager coordinates food sourcing, storage, pricing, point-of-sale systems, and SNAP acceptance for eligible purchases, while maintaining controls for free emergency food distribution and supporting program sustainability. Expansion will be guided by community needs, available resources, and required approvals.

This position requires flexibility in scheduling to support pantry operating hours and mobile van service schedules, including early morning and evening hours as needed. Additional hours may be required for food deliveries, inventory management, reporting deadlines, emergency food distributions, special events, and inspections. The Manager provides direct operational support and program coverage when staffing shortages, emergencies, or other operational needs arise to maintain continuity of pantry and mobile services.
