Honeywell Corporate is looking for a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Special Projects in Charlotte NC. In this role, you will leverage your in-depth accounting knowledge and research capabilities to provide solutions to complex and challenging business problems. This person will report to the Director of Accounting Policy and Internal Controls, lead a team of 4 individuals, and partner with the Senior Manager of Internal Controls. In addition, this individual will collaborate with team members across business functions to solve our most complex accounting issues and lead controllership’s role in key finance strategic objectives. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to lead teams, anticipate the needs of our customers, communicate effectively (including senior leadership and those with non-accounting backgrounds), and think holistically about the impact of accounting issues to our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Accounting and Special Projects (90% of responsibilities)
- Manage special projects as assigned, such as support of acquisition or divestiture transactions and operationalization of commodity hedging process.
- Perform accounting research to assess the impact of proposed transactions, providing guidance to our business partners and senior leadership to impact decision making.
- Periodically review and update accounting and reporting policies, proactively monitoring proposed and enacted updates from the FASB, SAB, and SEC.
- Lead global implementation efforts for accounting and reporting standards, drafting policies to reflect current guidance.
- Lead cross-strategic business group (SBG) and cross-functional discussions to socialize updates and changes to the accounting and reporting policies, partnering with SBGs to assess impact of proposals and support comment letter efforts.
- Assist Sr. Manager of Internal Controls with internal controls projects and programs, providing guidance and expertise to ensure continuous improvement of the internal control environment.
- Lead global Controllership Learning efforts to provide a high-quality training program for the Finance organization, partnering with the business groups to develop relevant and tailored training materials.
- External Reporting (10% of responsibilities)
- Independently complete areas of the Form 10-Q and 10-K filings, as assigned.
- Review data submitted for reasonableness, assessing for consistency and reliability and leading follow-up discussions as needed.
- Assess new accounting standards for their impact to financial statement disclosures and preparing the associated disclosures.
- Lead external benchmarking projects to assess comparability of HON’s SEC filings with its peers, particularly in support of new business transactions, changes in guidance, and new accounting standards.
