Summary:
Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives, ships, and performs packaging and related activities necessary to receive and ship non-productive and productive material or products
- Checks materials, quantities, serial numbers, weights, security classifications, general condition of incoming and outgoing shipments and area packaging activities against applicable paperwork
- Prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges; and routes merchandise to destinations
- Lays out, fabricates and assembles nonstandard shipping crates and boxes
- Determines packaging requirements, builds special crating fixtures and brackets, packages materials, and coordinates loading or unloading of items requiring special handling techniques
- Processes excess equipment
- May perform other duties as required
- Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to ""stop"" work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.
