There is an immediate opening for a Global Project Controls Manager within Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technology (PMT) Engineering and Functional Excellence (EFE) organization. Honeywell PMT’s EFE organization manages the Capital Investment portfolio from inception to completion through Strategic and Annual planning and execution across $11 Bn Strategic Business Group of Honeywell.
The Global Project Controls Manager will report directly to the PMT Project Controls Leader with a matrix relationship to the Vice President, Engineering and Functional Excellence (EFE) and will be based in the US Gulf Coast Region. The position will manage a global team of (5) direct and total team size of 20 professionals that include project cost and schedule management, project estimating, contract management, document control and portfolio management.
This is a key position within PMT that represents a critical delivery point of our portfolio for global operations, technology, and Strategic Business Units. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong partnership with the Project Execution and Project Development Directors, and other stakeholders in Supply Chain and Finance to drive project and portfolio controls ensuring PMT manages capital within plan.
The Global Project Controls Manager will provide portfolio management leadership, vision and best practices to ensure PMT deploys its constrained capital budgets in a manner that reinforces and demonstrates our priorities while maximizing economic value for Honeywell. The position will oversee the project controls management operating system (MOS), providing visibility of both risk and opportunity associated with the PMT portfolio, made up of approximately $300M in capital annually, through effective management of estimates, cost reporting, scheduling and contract management.
The role will be accountable for all matters pertaining to the control and management of the project portfolio in accordance with Honeywell standards, HSE guidelines, quality, schedule and financial goals to create superior financial value for the business. It is the responsibility of this leader to develop teams that own all aspects of the project controls working collaboratively with functions and internal & external stakeholders to deliver the best-in-class results and value to the business.
The Global Project Controls Manager role has the option to work from one of these Honeywell locations: Houston, TX, Baton Rouge, LA, Shreveport, LA, Mobile, AL, Colonial Heights, VA, or Des Plaines, IL.
Responsibilities
• Portfolio Management: Capital program strategy & reporting (Annual (AOP) and Long term Plans(STRAP) ); Capital and expense forecast management to meet AOP commitments
• Maintenance and continuous improvement of EcoSys™ to be used as the primary tool for PMT Capital Engineering Portfolio Management
• Coordination of appropriation approval requests as per the Schedule of Executive Authority
• Ensuring PMT Engineering cost center budget is managed within AOP
• Drive continuous improvement via new tools to assist project/portfolio managers in more efficiently executing the capital portfolio
• Project Cost & Schedule Control: Governance and compliance of SAP project standards on all capital related activities; Governance of standard project reporting including dashboards, cost reports, schedules, engineering metrics and steering team documentation
• Responsible for leading the estimating organization in coordinating the development of accurate, timely and professional estimates, as well as, to set the strategic direction to standardize and drive continuous improvement in estimating practices
• Responsible for continued development of contracting strategies and regular cadence to ensure compliance and savings to Honeywell through lower contract risk and, subsequently, lower % of field changes
• Responsible for ensuring periodic maintenance and updating of engineering procedures, standards and document control databases
• Coach and develop employees, including direct and matrix reports
• Develop succession planning, talent roadmaps and employee development plans
