Job Description
As an Advanced Systems Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and support of Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) systems for our customers. You will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of complex projects and providing technical expertise in the field of Inertial Measurement. Your work will directly contribute to the advancement of our technological capabilities and the success of our business and our customers.
You will report directly to our IMU Senior Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Minneapolis, Minnesota location on a hybrid work schedule. Note: New Hires will be onsite M-F for the first 90 days.
In this role, you will impact the development and improvement of IMU systems, ensuring their accuracy, reliability, and performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, design solutions, validate system performance, and support on-site manufacturing growth. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, as well as providing guidance and support to junior engineers.

THE BUSINESS UNIT
Mechanical Systems & Components provides a wide range of mechanical products and value-adding services to Honeywell Aerospace customers, including aircraft manufacturers and operators, and agencies of the U.S. government. The business develops and manufactures air and thermal systems, mechanical components, wheels and braking systems. It also manages and operates facilities for the Federal government. Every 5 seconds, an aircraft lands with Honeywell Wheels and brakes. The entire fleet of U.S military fighters and trainers use Honeywell Cabin Pressure Systems.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and design solutions for IMU systems.
- Conduct system-level testing and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to IMU systems.
- Work closely with manufacturing to improve capability and producibility of our IMUs in support of growing demand
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers in the development and improvement of IMU systems.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in IMU technology and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as engineering or physics.
- 5 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably in the field of guidance and navigation
- Strong knowledge of IMU technology and its applications.
- Experience in system-level testing and validation.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Master's degree in a technical discipline.
- Experience with inertial measurement and/or guidance and navigation
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to IMU systems.
- Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
