We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Hotel Laundry Attendant to join our dedicated team! As a Laundry Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring our hotel's linens are impeccably clean, fresh, and readily available for our guests and various departments. Responsibilities:
- Sort and Process Linens: Accurately sort soiled linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, tablecloths, napkins, uniforms, etc.) by type, color, and degree of soil.
- Operate Laundry Equipment: Load, operate, and unload industrial washing machines, dryers, and pressing equipment (e.g., flatwork ironers, towel folders) according to hotel procedures and manufacturer instructions.
- Handle Chemicals Safely: Understand and adhere to all chemical handling precautions.
- Fold and Organize: Efficiently fold, and stack clean linens. Ensure all linens meet quality standards for cleanliness and appearance.
- Store and Distribute: Organize and store clean linens in designated areas (e.g., shelves, carts), ensuring proper inventory rotation. Distribute clean linens to housekeeping staff, food and beverage departments, and other areas as needed.
- Maintain Equipment: Regularly clean and maintain laundry equipment, including lint traps, filters, and work surfaces, to ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of machinery. Report any malfunctions, breakdowns, or maintenance needs to management promptly.
- Manage Inventory and Supplies: Monitor laundry supply levels (detergents, softeners, stain removers, hangers, etc.) and inform management when replenishment is needed. Assist with periodic inventory counts of linens.
- Adhere to Standards: Strictly follow all hotel safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of soiled and contaminated linens, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to bloodborne pathogen procedures.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the laundry room clean, organized, and free of hazards at all times.
- Communicate: Effectively communicate with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments regarding linen availability or issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a hotel or commercial laundry operation is a significant advantage, but not always required for entry-level positions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing heavy laundry carts.
- Ability to lift up to 30-50 pounds regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently, managing time effectively to meet production goals.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
