Role Summary
We are looking for a motivated and hardworking Apprentice Carpenter to join our team. You will work directly under the supervision of experienced Journeyman Carpenters and our Project Foreman to learn the trade while contributing to residential renovation projects. This is an entry-level position designed for someone eager to build a career in the construction industry through hands-on experience and mentorship.
Pay is based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Skilled Trades: Assist journeyman carpenters with framing, siding, window/door installation, and interior trim work.
- Site Preparation: Set up workstations, organize tools, and ensure the job site is clean, safe, and professional at the end of each day.
- Material Handling: Load and unload construction materials, and cut lumber or other materials to specified measurements using hand and power tools.
- Demolition: Assist in the safe removal of old structures, cabinetry, or flooring during the initial phases of a remodel.
- Learning & Development: Actively observe and practice carpentry techniques including measuring, leveling, squaring, and finishing to meet Homeward’s high quality standards.
- Client Interaction: Maintain a respectful and professional demeanor when working in clients' homes, reflecting our commitment to personalized customer service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in carpentry, construction or woodworking is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic.
- Skills: * Basic knowledge of hand and power tools (drills, saws, levels, etc.).
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Strong math skills for calculating measurements.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Traits: Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented with a "measure twice, cut once" mindset.
- Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to various job sites in North Thurston County.
