Type of Employment: This is a regular, full-time position, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer

Compensation: Competitive pay corresponding with experience and role level; specific salary details will be discussed during the hiring process

 

The Opportunity:

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a Paralegal to join our team. This position is currently remote in Anchorage, AK. Travel within Anchorage and to the Kenai Peninsula may be required.

 

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Research, monitor, and track regulatory requirements, commission rules, orders, proceedings, and deadlines affecting the Cooperative. Assists with the preparation and submission for filings, applications, responses, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of corporate governance policies, procedures, compliance programs, and internal controls. Maintains compliance calendars, filing schedules, and corporate records.
  • Draft, proofread, format and prepare correspondence, memoranda, notices, board resolutions, meeting minutes, contract summaries, compliance reviews, and other legal and governance documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain department records and filing systems for legal, regulatory, governance, and compliance documents in both physical and electronic formats, ensuring records are complete, organized, and readily accessible.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties, including preparing correspondence and reports, coordinating special projects, maintain confidential information, process departmental records, and provide administrative support to the Chief Legal Officer and Legal Department.

 

What makes you a good fit:

  • Paralegal certificate or related associate's degree.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of paralegal experience, preferably in regulatory or corporate law. Experience with regulatory agencies or compliance work is strongly preferred.
  • In lieu of the certification/degree requirement, an additional three years of applicable experience may replace the requirement.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
