Plant Health Care Technician
Position: Plant Health Care Technician – Full Time
Department: Homer Tree Care, Inc.
Job Summary: The Plant Health Care Technician (PHC Tech) is responsible for safe delivery and application of plant health care services. The PHC Tech performs fertilization and integrated pest management on trees, shrubs and lawns using spray and injection tools.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform all functions of the pest management program including but not limited to; administration, scheduling, inspections, sampling, treatments, inventory, equipment maintenance, record keeping, and customer relations.
- Conduct regular inspections on plants for signs of pests, diseases or other factors
- Identify, diagnose, and treat insects, disease, and other conditions of trees and shrubs using various methods and tools
- Develop and implement treatment plans for pest control and disease management
- Administers pesticides, fertilizers and other needs with proficient application skills
- Ensure that all company policies regarding safety, PPE, labeling, and the storage and handling of pesticide products are adhered to
- Effectively operate, calibrate, and maintain all PPE, equipment and tools
- Perform soil testing and analysis to determine appropriate conditions
- Maintain accurate records of plant health assessments and treatments
- Maintains consistent communication with supervisors, coworkers and customers
- Works as a member of tree crew, under the crew leader’s supervision during the off season
- Performs any other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree in Arboriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape Management, Plant Science, or a related field, or previous experience in tree care industry preferred
- Commercial Pesticide Applicator License or able and willing to attain one
- Clean motor vehicle record and valid driver’s license
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform strenuous manual labor and work in all conditions, including both extreme heat and cold temperatures
Benefits:
- Starting pay is $22-$28/hr
- Pay is determined by experience, skill, education, and other factors
