Homeport Neurosurgery & Spine is seeking a highly motivated, patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing private neurosurgery practice. Position Summary
Responsible to the Practice Manager,the Medical Assistant coordinates patient care with the physician, assists with clinical procedures, administers medications per physician order, and supports administrative functions that enhance the overall patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Deliver outstanding customer service by warmly greeting patients, ensuring timely rooming, and creating a positive clinical experience
- Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for exams or treatments, and obtain vital signs
- Assist physician(s) during examinations and procedures
- Complete patient intake and ensure accuracy of medical records
- Prepare and maintain clinical supplies and equipment, including sterilization
- Provide patient education clearly and compassionately
- Call in prescriptions and complete provider orders accurately
- Handle patient phone calls professionally and efficiently, following clinical protocols
Administrative & Team Support
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Utilize EMR and practice management systems efficiently
- Maintain clinical inventory, supplies, and medication samples
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented culture
- Complete required trainings (CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance, etc.) within designated timeframes
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Practice Manager

Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma required
- CMA certification preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical assisting experience required
- Strong computer skills, including EMR and basic office software
