We are a fast-growing nonprofit developer focused exclusively on building housing solutions for homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Our approach to affordable housing is to reduce the cost of construction through philanthropy, regulatory tools, pro bono labor, and discounted services, materials, and supplies. This approach allows HomeAid Hawaii the opportunity to pass on deep discounts to Hawaii’s most vulnerable people in a housing crisis.

Job Description:
The Grants Manager will play a pivotal role in advancing HomeAid Hawai‘i’s mission by securing and
managing funding that supports the development of deeply affordable housing solutions across the state. This position is responsible for identifying, writing, and managing grants from public, private, and corporate sources while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals. The Grants Manager oversees the full lifecycle of grant management, from prospect research and proposal development to tracking deliverables and reporting outcomes, translating HomeAid Hawai‘i’s impact and data into compelling, funder-ready narratives that demonstrate measurable results and community value.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Grant Research, Writing, and Management
- Identify, research, and track grant opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and government sources that align with HomeAid Hawai‘i’s mission and programs.
- Prepare clear, compelling, and data-informed grant proposals and supporting materials that communicate HomeAid Hawai‘i’s impact and funding needs.
- Manage the full grant lifecycle in Salesforce, including opportunity creation, application submission, award tracking, reporting deliverables, renewals, and closeouts.
- Maintain an up-to-date grants calendar within Salesforce to ensure all deadlines, tasks, and funder communications are logged and monitored.
- Ensure all grant activities comply with funder requirements, organizational policies, and reporting standards.
2. Financial Coordination and Compliance
- Partner with the Finance Team to ensure budgets, invoices, and expenditures align with grant terms and reporting requirements.
- Track and document all grant-related revenue and expenses in Salesforce in collaboration with the Controller or Finance Manager.
- Support quarterly and annual reporting cycles by compiling data, financials, and outcomes for required filings and funder updates.
- Partner with Project Directors and the Project Administrator to ensure accurate alignment between project budgets, deliverables, and grant-funded activities.
3. Reporting and Impact Communication
- Prepare progress and final reports for funders that demonstrate outcomes, lessons learned, and measurable community impact.
- Gather and synthesize information from across departments to accurately report achievements and milestones supported by grant funding.
- Use Salesforce data to generate performance insights, outcome reports, and funder communications that highlight HomeAid Hawai‘i’s measurable results.
- Support the Chief Impact Officer and Chief External Affairs Officer in translating data and impact metrics into compelling, funder-ready stories.
4. Partnership Cultivation and Stewardship
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with funders and partners, ensuring timely communication, recognition, and updates.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for renewed or expanded funding relationships.
- Work with the marketing and communications team to create materials that highlight grant-supported programs and stories.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field; advanced
- degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or a related role, with
- demonstrated success in raising funds for nonprofit organizations.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts, managing relationships, and meeting fundraising goals.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, in-kind donation management, and partnership development
- with construction-related partners is preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives
- and presentations. Skilled, strategic writer is required.
- Experience with donor database systems, including Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape in Hawai'i is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Physical Requirement:
- Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of light office items up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to operate general office equipment such as computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, phone system, postage meter, etc.
- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to use office equipment and handle paperwork.
- Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documents and computer screens.
- Must be articulate. Must have professional listening and speaking communication capabilities both in person and electronically.
