What are the responsibilities and job description for the Furniture Repair Technician position at Home Zone Furniture?
The Furniture Repair Technician fixes damaged, defective, and returned furniture in our Midlothian repair shop so it can go back to a customer, back on the sales floor, or out as clearance. You will work on upholstery, case goods, recliners, and motion furniture, and your work directly decides whether a customer gets their furniture on time and in great shape.
About Home Zone Furniture
Home Zone Furniture is a Texas-based furniture retailer with about 20 stores across Texas and Oklahoma, headquartered in Midlothian. We sell living room, bedroom, dining, and mattress products, and we deliver to customers across our markets.
What You'll Do
- Inspect incoming damaged, defective, and returned furniture and decide whether it can be repaired, needs parts, or should be written off
- Repair wood and case goods: scratches, gouges, dents, chips, loose joints, broken legs, drawers, and hardware
- Touch up and refinish wood surfaces using stains, markers, fill sticks, lacquers, and blending techniques so repairs match the original finish
- Repair upholstery and fabric: re-stitch seams, replace or tighten fabric and leather panels, re-staple, and restore cushion shape
- Diagnose and repair recliners, power motion furniture, and sleepers, including mechanisms, cables, motors, and wiring harnesses
- Rebuild frames, replace springs and webbing, and re-glue or reinforce joints
- Order and track replacement parts from vendors and log what was needed for each repair
- Document each repair in our system with notes and before and after photos
- Tag finished pieces so they are routed correctly: back to the customer order, back to stock, or to clearance
- Work with the warehouse, delivery, and customer service teams to prioritize repairs tied to scheduled customer deliveries
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe, and take care of tools and equipment
- Flag recurring defects from specific products or vendors to the Repair Shop Manager
