Compensation: $28–$35/hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM (live-out); summer hours approximately 10:00 AM–6:00 PM; occasional overnight coverage when both parents travel
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

Family Assistant

A busy, warm family in Pittsford, NY is looking for a long-term, live-out Family Assistant to keep their household running smoothly and support their three school-aged children (ages 9, 12, and 16). The role is about 60% household and administrative support and 40% childcare. The children are fairly independent, so the focus is on organization, scheduling, and keeping everyone on track. While the kids are at school, you’ll manage the family calendar, keep household supplies stocked, handle errands, and keep common areas in order. In the afternoons and evenings, you’ll oversee homework and drive the children to their activities, all within about 30 minutes of the home. The family also has two friendly, well-behaved doodles. The parents are hands-on and value clear, consistent communication. They’re looking for someone who takes ownership, anticipates needs, and stays organized in a fast-moving home. A family vehicle is provided for all job-related driving.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the family calendar and coordinate all three children’s schedules, activities, and priorities
• Take household inventory and reorder supplies as needed, including grocery ordering through Instacart
• Run errands, including order pickups, dry cleaning, and pharmacy pickups
• Sort incoming mail and manage trash and recycling
• Keep common areas tidy and organized, with light housekeeping and picking up around the house
• Coordinate with maintenance crews and household vendors
• Meet the children after school, with occasional school pickups, and make sure homework gets done
• Drive the children to after-school activities and friends’ homes in the family vehicle
• Keep healthy snacks on hand and encourage the kids to make healthy choices (no meal prep required)
• Let the dogs out as needed during the day
• Help with seasonal holiday decorating and household organizing projects
• Provide 24-hour care when both parents travel for work, a few times a year
• Accompany the children to family clubs when needed
• Keep the parents updated on schedules, activities, and household needs

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Family Assistant, Nanny, or in a similar household role with school-aged children and teens
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Reliable, conscientious, and proactive, with the ability to take initiative
• Comfortable with technology, including family calendar apps and online ordering
• Comfortable with dogs
• Available for occasional overnight coverage
• Long-term commitment (ideally 1 years)
• Some college education is a plus
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus
• Must be able to provide 3–5 professional references
