A Day in the Life
As the Director of Facilities, you’ll oversee multiple departments that keep our campus running smoothly—including maintenance, security, laundry, transportation, and environmental services. You’ll manage facilities systems, vendor contracts, budgets, and regulatory compliance while leading teams that ensure our 22-acre campus remains safe, comfortable, and mission-focused. You’ll also play a vital role in emergency preparedness, disaster planning, and strategic growth projects that strengthen our services for children and families.
How This Position Contributes to the Mission
- Oversee daily operations of facilities, security, transportation, environmental services, and laundry.
- Supervise managers in each operational area and ensure team development.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for plant operations, safety, and disaster preparedness.
- Lead and coordinate emergency response and drills, serving as on-call leader during crises.
- Manage vendor contracts, negotiate services, and oversee purchasing and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and Life Safety standards.
- Participate in strategic and annual planning, setting goals for facilities and operations.
- Develop and manage department budgets, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Build strong partnerships with vendors, contractors, and community partners.
- Lead or participate in campus-wide special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, business management, or related field required.
- 5 years of leadership experience in facilities/plant operations (healthcare or senior living preferred).
- Strong knowledge of facilities management, regulatory compliance, safety standards, and capital planning.
- Experience with HVAC, electrical, construction compliance, and building operating systems preferred.
- Proficiency in contract negotiation, vendor management, and budget coordination.
- Effective supervisory, coaching, and conflict management skills.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
