Responsibilities
- Assist residents and clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and document patient observations, vital signs, and changes in health status to ensure timely reporting to healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed care plans while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring nutritional needs are met in accordance with dietary guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, fostering a respectful and engaging atmosphere tailored to individual preferences.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including social workers, nurses, and therapists—to develop and implement comprehensive care plans that address specific health conditions such as Alzheimer's disease or autism spectrum disorder.
- Assist with mobility exercises and patient monitoring during activities to promote safety and independence in assisted living or home & community care settings.
Skills
- Proven experience in caregiving roles within nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes, or home health environments.
- Knowledge of specialized care techniques for dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; experience with medication administration and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required; experience operating assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or resident transfer equipment.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in health status promptly.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, team members, and healthcare professionals.
