Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
- Travel through assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
- Display or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
- Negotiate pricing based on what the market will bear while maintaining profit goals of the company.
- Achieve or exceed territory sales budget as well as contributing additional sales to help achieve overall regional sales budgets.
- Quote prices and credit terms and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's delivery schedules.
- Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
- Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
- Develop and maintain relationships with purchasing contacts along with providing information to help set usage levels.
- Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries and products.
- Attend trade shows.
- Other duties as assigned.
