The Manager of Employee Health is directly responsible and accountable to the Chief Administration Officer. The Manager of Employee Health is responsible for the operational leadership, administration, and coordination of Employee Health Programs that support a safe, healthy, and compliant workforce. This position oversees all aspects of employee health operations, including regulatory compliance, health surveillance administration, immunization and screening program coordination, employee health records management, vendor oversight, reporting, budget, program development, and process improvement initiatives.
The Manager of Employee Health collaborates with People Resources, Occupational Medicine, Safety, Infection Prevention, Workers' Compensation, Benefits, and organizational leaders to promote workforce well-being, reduce occupational risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and support employee health program objectives.
Education, Work Experience and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Occupational Health/Medicine required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in management in the healthcare setting.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Oversight of daily operations of the Employee Health department.
Establish department goals, performance expectations, and operational priorities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain employee health policies, procedures, and workflows.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while monitoring changes in requirements and implementing updates as necessary.
- Maintain survey readiness for accreditation related to employee health.
Coordinate annual health surveillance programs and regulatory-driven screenings.
- Establish Health and Wellness initiatives for employees and evaluate effectiveness of programs by utilizing data and benchmarking information to support strategic decision-making.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee health documentation in accordance with organizational policies and applicable privacy regulations.
Develop employee health information systems and electronic record management processes ensuring data integrity, record retention, compliance and reporting accuracy.
Develop and maintain audits to identify compliance gaps and process improvement opportunities.
- Foster a culture of customer service, continuous improvement, and accountability.
Partner with People Resources, Nursing Leadership, Infection Prevention, Occupational Medicine and Safety teams to support workforce health initiatives including the System’s Worker’s Compensation Program and employee onboarding.
Support organizational response efforts during public health events, outbreaks, or emergency preparedness activities.
Serve as a subject matter expert regarding employee health processes and requirements.
Analyze trends related to screenings, immunization compliance, occupational exposures, and employee health program participation, and develop corrective action plans to address identified gaps.
Manage vendor relationships associated with employee health services and programs.
- Develop departmental budget and expense monitoring to meet or exceed budget.
- Evaluate contracts, services, and program outcomes to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
