Commercial Tire Retread Technician
Location: West Springfield, MA Shift: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Rotating Saturdays) Type: Full-Time
The Opportunity
Are you a hands-on professional who enjoys technical work, operating machinery, and keeping the supply chain moving? Commercial Truck Tire Center is looking for a Commercial Tire Retread Technician to join our manufacturing production team. You’ll be the backbone of our retread plant, operating specialized machinery to recycle commercial tire casings and helping local fleets and long-haul drivers stay safe on the road through certified, high-quality Bandag retreading.
What You’ll Do
- Tire Buffing: Operate specialized buffing machinery to precisely remove worn tread from commercial tire casings according to strict width and depth specifications.
- Tire Building: Measure tire dimensions and operate building machines to apply semi-raw rubber treads and cushion gum evenly onto prepared tire casings.
- Inspection: Conduct visual and physical audits of casings before and after processing to identify structural damage, defects, or safety risks.
- Plant Support: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient manufacturing environment, assisting with inventory flow and bulk material management.
- Safety First: Adhere to all certified Bandag manufacturing specifications and OSHA safety regulations to ensure a zero-injury workplace.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 1 years of experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or automotive service preferred (but we are willing to train the right candidate with a strong mechanical aptitude and work ethic).
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift 75 lbs and manage heavy commercial tire casings in a physically demanding production environment.
- Reliability: A strong attendance record, punctuality, and a valid Driver’s License.
- Mindset: A "safety-first" attitude, close attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently to meet daily production goals.
