Grocery store cashier’s main duties and responsibilities is to assist customers in the in-store checkout process which includes ringing up sales, bagging items, requesting price checks, collecting payment, and giving appropriate change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate.
- Collect payment for goods whether in cash or credit
- Process sales transactions
- Calculate and return change when required by the payment method
- Maintain adequate change denominations in the cash drawer and request additional change
- Answer customer questions about products or services
- Reconcile cash drawers and sales receipts
- Report issues with equipment
- Handle customer complains
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout area
- Assist in stocking and rotating merchandise
- Scan and bag items accurately and efficiently
