The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Assistant Safety Director and/or Safety Director with the daily EH&S management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet environmental, health and safety objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Responsibilities of this role include the following, but are not limited to:
- Lead environmental, health and safety efforts for specific trades or areas of the project
- Understand and implement an Energy Control Plan
- Support EH&S efforts with the project team
- Continue technical safety training
- Participate in any event investigations and learn the RCA process
- Participate in any OSHA partnerships
- Review, identify and assist with mitigating any high-risk activities
- Assist in the development of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Communicate ideas, innovations, and best practices to the EH&S team
- Develop and maintain relationships with client, trade partners, and project team
- Assist in developing and maintaining weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Participate in all safety related meetings
GENERAL BACKGROUND AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in a construction related field and 1-3 years of experience in Construction Safety Management, or equivalent combinations of education and experience
- Have OSHA 510 or STS-C, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Competent person in confined spaces, scaffolding, fall protection, and forklifts
- Proficient with personal computer-based safety software, and proficiency in current corporate software packages
