Job Description:

Summary:
Responsible for providing support to the OR staff during procedures by obtaining supplies from the core and taking them to the Circulating RN or other designee. Will maintain supply levels and organization in sterile core area, assist with pulling cases, obtain instruments from central sterile processing for procedures as needed, assist with managing and restocking all supplies including specialty supplies. Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers. Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations. Must be conscientious and knowledgeable with regard to procedures, sterile technique, equipment handling, and teamwork. Must be capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with all employees, physicians, residents and students and other departments within the hospital and O.R. setting. Able to accept new responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. One to three years of experience in sterile processing or operating room are required. Knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department is a must. Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and technique to function efficiently in the O.R. setting. Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regards for technical and minute procedures. Basic computer knowledge required and able to manage stress in a professional manner.
