Join Our Team: Summer Internship – Molecular Diagnostics
Are you curious about how science can help people live healthier lives? Our Molecular Diagnostics team at Hologic is all about creating cutting-edge tests and devices that improve women’s health. As a summer intern, you’ll get to roll up your sleeves and dive into hands-on projects, work with smart and supportive teammates, and discover how your ideas can make a real impact in healthcare. It’s more than an internship—it’s your chance to shine!
What you’ll be up to during your 10-12 week adventure:
- Work on optimizing workflows and chemistry for nucleic acid extraction (don’t worry, we’ll teach you the ropes!).
- Evaluate how well our chemistry performs with all sorts of sample types (think: blood, nasal swabs, and more).
- Test and fine-tune reagent formulations to get the best results.
- Help confirm our methods work on real clinical specimens.
- Get hands-on with experimental design, data analysis, documentation, and sharing your findings with the team.
Who we’re hoping to meet:
- You can work full-time during the summer (May/June - August/September).
- You’re currently working on your Bachelor’s degree, with at least one semester left after the internship.
- Your major is in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or something similar.
- You’re heading into your junior or senior year.
- You know how to get your point across, whether you’re writing or speaking.
- You’re comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- You’re a problem solver who loves diving into new challenges.
Location, pay & other important details:
- You can work onsite at our San Diego, CA campus. Heads up: intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends aren’t provided, so you’ll need to have your living situation and transportation sorted out.
- Pay range: $22 - $28 per hour, based on your class standing and operational function.
