This position is ideal for someone who is precise, organized, comfortable working in the field, and understands that even a small measurement error can create major problems during cabinet production and installation.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer homes and job sites to perform field measurements for kitchen, bathroom, and other cabinetry projects.
- Take accurate measurements of walls, ceilings, floors, openings, and other areas relevant to cabinet installation.
- Identify and document out-of-square walls, uneven floors, ceiling variations, plumbing locations, electrical outlets, windows, doors, and other potential obstacles.
- Record measurements clearly and accurately, including all necessary dimensions and job-site details.
- Take photographs and document existing conditions to help the design and sales teams understand each project.
- Communicate measurement details, site conditions, and potential installation challenges to the appropriate team members.
- Verify critical dimensions and double-check measurements before submitting information.
- Identify discrepancies between plans and actual job-site conditions.
- Help ensure projects move smoothly from field measurement to design, production, and installation.
- Maintain organized records for each job.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and record dimensions consistently.
- Organized work habits and the ability to follow a repeatable measurement process.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to producing accurate work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with sales, design, and installation teams.
- Ability to travel to customer homes and active job sites.
- Professional and courteous interaction with customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience measuring kitchens, cabinets, countertops, or other residential construction projects.
- Experience in the cabinet, remodeling, construction, or installation industry.
- Ability to read floor plans, cabinet layouts, and construction drawings.
- Familiarity with kitchen and bathroom layouts, cabinetry dimensions, and installation requirements.
- Experience using digital measuring tools, laser measures, or job-site documentation software.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
The right person is methodical, thorough, and takes ownership of their measurements. They do not guess, overlook details, or rush through a job. They know when to double-check a dimension, when to ask questions, and when to flag a potential problem before it becomes an expensive mistake.
