What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drill Rig Assistant position at Holland Engineers?
Holland Engineers is seeking a hard-working and motivated Drill Rig Assistant to join our team. As a Drill Rig Assistant, you will be a member of the drilling team in our Drilling Services group. Our team performs geotechnical subsurface explorations using a Central Mine Equipment, CME-45c/300, drill rig to explore subsurface conditions with various drilling and sampling methods. We typically drill with 3.25-inch hollow stem augers and sample with split-spoons and Shelby tube samplers. Occasionally, we utilize mud rotary or wireline rock coring methods, depending on project needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the drill rig operator with daily setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment.
- Work outside at various project sites.
- Perform manual labor to assemble and disassemble drill tooling.
- Travel occasionally for out-of-town projects.
- Assist with mechanical repairs on drill rig, tooling, equipment, and trucks.
- Learn to troubleshoot problems, develop solutions, become mechanically proficient, weld, and operate the drill rig.
Requirements:
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a pickup truck.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Physically capable of lifting at least 80 pounds (possibly more at times), working on your feet throughout the day, and navigating uneven or rough terrain.
- Willingness to work overtime when needed to meet project deadlines.
- Reliable daily transportation to the shop.
- Non-negotiable traits: solid work ethic, reliable, punctual, self-motivated, team-oriented, positive attitude, and good communication skills.
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
