Tittle - Lead Workday HRIS Consultant
Location - Charlotte, NC,Boston, MA, Hybrid Must be onsite 3 days a week in one of the cities above
Duration - Contract/Full-Time
Top Technical Requirements:
- Skill #1 : Workday Payroll configuration (calculated fields, pay components, business processes)
- Minimum Years of Experience: 7 years HRIS experience with strong Workday expertise
- Skill #2: Workday Compensation & Benefits configuration
- Minimum Years of Experience: 7 years (same overall HRIS/Workday background)
- Skill #3: Workday integrations support (EIB, PECI, liaising with integration developers)
- Minimum Years of Experience: Direct configuration experience required; integration coding itself not required
Day to Day Responsibilities:
Task 1 (%): ~50% — Hands-on Workday configuration
- Configure and maintain Payroll, Compensation, and Benefits modules; build and troubleshoot calculated fields, reports, and business processes; manage security configuration and reviews
Task 2 (%): ~25% — Integrations support
- Liaise with integration developers on requirements and field mapping; validate PECI and other payroll file outputs; support EIB loads, testing, and defect resolution
Task 3 (%): ~25% — Mentorship & cross-functional partnership
- Mentor HRIS analysts on configuration and troubleshooting; lead system enhancements, releases, and testing; partner with Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, HR, and TA teams
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a functional lead and subject matter expert for Workday and HR technology initiatives
- Provide hands-on configuration, support, testing, and troubleshooting across multiple Workday modules
- Lead system enhancements, releases, testing activities, and continuous improvement efforts
- Mentor HRIS team members, providing guidance on solution design, configuration, and issue resolution
- Partner with Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, HR, and Talent teams to deliver effective Workday solutions
- Collaborate with technical teams on requirements, integrations, testing, and deployments
- Support Workday releases, feature adoption, and production readiness activities
- Perform impact assessments, root cause analysis, and configuration reviews
- Develop documentation, testing materials, and knowledge-sharing resources
- Recommend Workday best practices and opportunities for optimization
Qualifications
- 7 years of HRIS experience with strong Workday expertise
- Experience supporting multiple Workday functional areas, including Compensation, Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, Security, and Payroll
- Strong understanding of Workday configuration, business processes, reporting, security, and testing methodologies
- Experience building reports, dashboards, calculated fields, EIBs, and supporting data initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to partner across business and technical teams
- Experience coaching and developing HRIS analysts
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Working Conditions
- Charlotte, NC area strongly preferred; also open to candidates based in Boston, MA or London, UK
- Hybrid work schedule, three days per week onsite strongly preferred
