Job Summary:
As the Sales Manager – SMERF, you will be responsible for generating group business from Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal organizations. You’ll develop relationships with community leaders and event planners, actively prospect new opportunities, and close group sales that align with our hotel's revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and solicit new SMERF business through proactive sales efforts (cold calls, site visits, networking events, etc.)
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with SMERF clients and community organizations
- Create and execute segment-specific strategies to achieve revenue goals
- Manage all aspects of the group sales process, from proposal to contract
- Collaborate with the Events and Revenue teams to ensure seamless client experiences
- Attend relevant trade shows, association meetings, and networking events
- Track all activity in CRM system and prepare accurate reports for management
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity in SMERF segments
- Will work in conjunction with the Director of Sales to achieve the hotel goals
- Assist the Director of Sales n the preparation of the annual marketing plan, including the action plans covering assigned market segments
- Maintain a documented record of all solicitation action steps in the sales file
- Assist the Director of Sales on special projects as assigned
- Obtain, document and route all necessary information on definite groups, including billing information, rooming list and VIP arrangements. Details on meeting arrangements, menus, audio-visual arrangements, etc., should be documented
- Maintain total and complete sensitivity to customer satisfaction and guest’s need
- Maintain professional attitude and appearance in dealing with all other departments in the hotel
- Prepare weekly reports, as well as other duties required by the Director of Sales.
- Follow-up on leads lost to competitive hotels and try to secure the account for own property
- Maintain a weekly sales quota of outside calls, maintenance calls, prospecting and site inspections assigned by Director of Sales
Qualifications:
- 2 years of group sales experience in hospitality or a related field (SMERF experience preferred)
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships
- Able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form with guest and associates so as to respond accurately and completely to people to give directions, instructions, information, answer questions and provide service as required
- Talk and listen to clients demonstrating excellent sales skills by knowing and selling product in a professional and courteous manner
- Self-starter with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Proficient in CRM software STS and MS Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field preferred
- Have a basic knowledge of local and national trends regarding business
- Lift approximately ten (10) pounds
- Use basic math skills to prepare budget and compute rate and profit information
- Sit, stand or walk for varying lengths of time, sometimes prolonged periods
