Position Summary
The Houseperson supports the housekeeping department by maintaining clean, safe, organized, and welcoming public areas throughout the hotel. This position assists room attendants, manages linen and supply movement, completes cleaning projects, removes trash, and responds to guest and departmental requests.
The Houseperson is expected to provide friendly service, work independently, follow IHG brand standards, and assist wherever needed to support hotel operations.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPublic-Area Cleaning
- Clean and maintain the hotel lobby, hallways, stairwells, elevators, entrances, vestibules, and other public areas.
- Clean and disinfect public restrooms throughout the shift.
- Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, dust furniture, and clean glass doors, windows, and mirrors.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.
- Clean doors, walls, baseboards, light fixtures, vents, and other high-touch or visible surfaces.
- Keep entrances, sidewalks, and smoking areas clean and free of litter.
- Assist with snow removal, salting, and maintaining safe entrances when required.
Housekeeping Support
- Deliver clean linens, towels, toiletries, bedding, and supplies to housekeeping carts and storage areas.
- Remove dirty linens and trash from guest-room floors and housekeeping carts.
- Assist room attendants with stripping beds, removing trash, moving furniture, and completing rooms when needed.
- Deliver guest-requested items such as towels, blankets, pillows, toiletries, cribs, and rollaway beds.
- Keep housekeeping closets, linen rooms, cart rooms, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Report low inventory levels to the Housekeeping Manager or manager on duty.
- Assist with room inspections, deep-cleaning projects, and preventive cleaning assignments.
Laundry Support
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and properly store hotel linens when assigned.
- Complete full laundry cycles from washing through folding and storage.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry room.
- Follow proper chemical, machine-loading, and linen-handling procedures.
- Report damaged linens, equipment problems, or chemical concerns to management immediately.
Must be able to work varying shifts to include days and evenings as well as weekends.
Pay: $13.75 - $15.00 per hour
