Job Summary
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Selma is seeking a motivated, service-driven Assistant General Manager (AGM) to help lead daily hotel operations and support the General Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, and team development.
The Assistant General Manager serves as a key leader within the hotel, ensuring operational excellence across all departments including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Breakfast, and Guest Services. This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage hotel operations, coach team members, and maintain brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Assist in overseeing daily hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct daily property walks to maintain cleanliness, safety, and appearance standards.
- Monitor guest service scores, online reviews, and guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Handle guest concerns and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop hotel team members.
- Assist with employee scheduling and labor management.
- Conduct daily team huddles and departmental meetings.
- Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and guest service.
- Support performance management and employee recognition initiatives.
Financial Management
- Assist with managing hotel expenses and labor costs.
- Monitor daily revenue performance, occupancy, ADR, and guest satisfaction metrics.
- Support inventory controls and purchasing processes.
- Assist with budget management and financial reporting.
Sales & Revenue Support
- Support local sales efforts and community engagement.
- Assist with group reservations and room block management.
- Maximize room revenue opportunities through effective inventory management.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and risk management procedures.
- Support quality assurance inspections and brand audits.
- Maintain accurate operational records and reports.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of hotel supervisory or management experience.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent communication and guest service abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with hotel management systems.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Previous experience with IHG hotels.
- Experience with hotel PMS systems.
- Knowledge of hotel revenue management and sales practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field preferred.
