Weekend Breakfast Cook

Scope and General Purpose

The primary responsibility of a Cook includes preparing food for the restaurant or banquet department, prep

ingredients, ensure cleanliness of their working area, and keep the ktichen stocked with necessary cooking supplies.

The Cook may contribute to decisions on menus and day to day offerings.

Essential Duties

1. Practices customer service behaviors, such as listening, initiative, responsiveness, cheerfulness,

accommodation, courtesy, honesty, and professionalism

2. Demonstrates effective communication skills and helps ensure optimum communication between all shifts,

departments, and management

3. Makes decisions in the best interests of the property and in compliance with all applicable policies and

procedures

4. Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment

5. Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)

6. Cook food in various utensils or grillers.

7. Check food while cooking to stir or turn

8. Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served

9. Check quality of ingredients

10. Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages

11. Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items

12. Collaborate with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef and Cooks to prepare meals during dining hours

13. Prepare food in accordance with working menus, recipe cards and photos

14. Maintain accurate food inventories

15. Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures

16. Rotate stock items as per established procedures

17. Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts

18. Maintain work areas clean and organized

19. Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift

20. Report all unsafe conditions immediately

21. Maintain local health department standards

22. Abides by all rules of Hawkeye Hotels and the brand

23. Attends and participates in staff meetings, safety meetings, training classes, etc

24. Performs all other duties assigned

• Knowledge/Experience

o High school diploma or equivalent

o Previous culinary experience

• Availability

o Must be able to work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

o Ability to add, subtract, multiply and, divide

o Possess problem solving skills, attention to detail and execute tasks flawlessly

• Technical Skills

o Must have basic knowledge of cooking and preparation methods and equipment

o Must complete training or certification required for the position

o Have a complete knowledge of MSDS location, cleaning products, equipment, PPE (Personal

Protection Equipment) and supplies

o Detect potential hazards and odors. Food quality.

- Requires the ability to bend, stoop, crouch, crawl, kneel, stand, walk and stretch. Requires the mobility to be

- Able to stand for long periods of time in excess of 2 hours without sitting
