POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Office Receptionist is responsible for answering phones, greeting patients and visitors, scheduling appointments in a professional and timely manner. They are also responsible for maintaining records and accounts, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Medical Office Receptionist is responsible to adhere to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Family Medical Specialties.
Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
General Requirements/Job Duties:

1. Adhere to the Family Medical Specialties mission, vision, and values
2. Welcome and greet all patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries
3. Register patients, complete medical reports and insurance related forms
4. Maintain patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
5. Ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records
6. Access patients charts checking to see if they need labs or diagnostics prior to being brought back
7. Move orders to present appointment in EHR
8. Keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient arrivals, reviewing service delivery compared to schedule, and reminding provider of service delays
9. Comply with Family Medical Specialties Code of Conduct
10. Comply with procedures, regulations, and rules in maintaining medical records
11. Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone
12. Explain policies to patients as necessary
13. Comfort patients by anticipating patient anxieties; answering patient questions; maintaining the reception area
14. Maintain business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, scheduling equipment service and repairs
15. Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies
16. Protect patient rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information
17. Maintain operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes
18. Demonstrate competency annually in assigned areas of work
