Primary Purpose Of The Role
The Cost Accountant II is responsible for the accuracy of financial transactions for inventory, materials, labor and overhead costs. This requires completing reporting and analysis for weekly, month-end, and adhoc needs. This position is expected to thoroughly understand the production capabilities and expectations of the facility. Responsibilities include efficiently managing and tracking cost of goods sold including identifying and facilitating cost savings opportunities to drive results.

The Cost Accountant II is responsible for the accuracy of financial transactions for inventory, materials, labor and overhead costs. This requires completing reporting and analysis for weekly, month-end, and adhoc needs. This position is expected to thoroughly understand the production capabilities and expectations of the facility. Responsibilities include efficiently managing and tracking cost of goods sold including identifying and facilitating cost savings opportunities to drive results.
Essential Job Duties
- Partner with Operations and other departments to identify cost saving opportunities and strategic initiatives which will drive profit improvements. .Prepare and distribute analytical reports as requested.
- Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly financial operational reporting. Partner with management and the finance team to improve plant operations and drive financial results.
- Review standards, actuals and future costs and quantities to ensure data integrity.
- Assist with analysis of manufacturing variances and highlight areas where improvements can be initiated.
- Assist with Month End and Year End financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Prepare cost quotes for Sales & Marketing requests. Update cost grids and standards for machine run rates. .
- Assist with year-end audit as needed.
- Assist Business Analysis, Operations, Distribution, Planning, Maintenance, BOM Set-up teams as requested with project support and analysis.
- Maintain the integrity of the perpetual inventory records including review of transactions for accuracy.
- Investigate and recommend changes to improve processes, increase efficiency and/or accuracy or eliminate unnecessary steps
- Participate in monthly HGI cost summit
- Other tasks as determined by business needs
- Take analysis from data collection to conclusions to driving actions within the organization.
- Experience with an integrated ERP system and understanding of how each module interfaces with Finance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel user
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with little supervision.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage competing tasks at one time.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required
- Must be self-motivated with outstanding decision-making skills
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing company in cost, finance or general ledger accounting.
