POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Technician collaborates closely with the Fabrication Manager to ensure all products are completed to the standards set forth in the project specifications, while following Hoffmann’s Project Quality Program. This position is responsible for conducting quality inspections throughout the fabrication process and performing final inspections. Additionally, the role involves new hire weld training along with administering welding tests for all employees while maintaining precise and thorough documentation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attain and maintain CWI certification.
- Conduct inspections throughout the project, including dimensional checks during fabrication, blueprint reviews, and overall weld quality assessments, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, applicable codes, specifications, and the QA/QC manual.
- Identify and assist in resolving quality issues, including participating in investigations to address any quality concerns.
- Administer and evaluate applicable certification tests for new, prospective, and current employees.
- Prepare, document, and communicate detailed reports on inspections, tests, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow all safety practices and policies to protect yourself and others impacted by your work.
- Provides training and skill development for new and existing employees.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is not required but is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting tolerances.
- Skilled in fabricating, troubleshooting welding, and resolving layout issues.
- Knowledgeable in working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and alloy steel in fabrication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Ability to periodically work off shifts and overtime as needed.
- Strong problem solving-skills and effective interpersonal abilities.
- Capable of receiving, understanding, and executing written and verbal instructions, as well as effectively communicating with others.
- An excellent work ethic and high attention to detail is required.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, and kneeling.
- This position is expected to work a standard 48-hour workweek.
- Must be available to attend meetings outside of regular business hours.
- Occasional travel may be required to support project needs or company initiatives.
- Exposure to construction and industrial environments, including outdoor elements.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
