MANUAL LATHE OPERATOR

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Lathe Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes to produce precision metal components according to engineering specifications. Your expertise in mechanical blueprint interpretation, measurement, and machining tools will ensure the highest quality standards are met. Duties

• Set up and operate manual lathes with precision, ensuring proper tooling and machine alignment for each job.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to produce accurate components.
• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, to verify dimensions and quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize machining performance.
• Follow safety protocols diligently while handling hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other machining equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot issues and improve machining processes.
• Maintain detailed records of work performed, measurements taken, and inspection results for quality control purposes.

Skills

• Extensive experience in manual machining with proficiency in lathe operation.
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading and mechanical blueprint interpretation.
• Knowledge of machining tools, tooling setup, and machine calibration techniques.
• Ability to use measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, for precision measurement in machining.
• Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and feed rates.
• Mechanical knowledge related to metal machining processes like turning, threading, boring, and facing.
• Experience with manufacturing environments that utilize Lean manufacturing principles for efficiency improvements.
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for quality assurance.
