POSITION OVERVIEW
Hodge Western Corp is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to support field operations on large-scale renewable energy and heavy civil construction projects. This role is a hands-on, field-based position focused on quality control (QC), project documentation, and construction technology, including Topcon GPS systems and as-built data collection. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring project specifications are met, accurate records are maintained, and field operations run efficiently. This position offers a clear career path into Project Management or Field Supervision (Superintendent) for individuals who demonstrate leadership, technical capability, and initiative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Engineering & Construction Support
- Support daily field operations in coordination with Superintendents and Project Managers
- Interpret plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure accurate execution of work
- Assist with layout and verification of work using GPS and conventional methods
Quality Control (QC) & Compliance
- Lead and manage quality control processes in the field to ensure compliance with project specifications and contract requirements
- Perform inspections of installed work and document compliance with drawings and specs
- Maintain detailed QC documentation including:
- Inspection reports
- Test results
- Daily quality logs
- Identify and communicate deficiencies; track corrective actions through completion
Topcon GPS & As-Built Data
- Operate and manage Topcon GPS equipment for layout verification and data collection
- Collect, process, and maintain accurate as-built data throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure as-built records are complete, organized, and aligned with project requirements
Project Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain and organize project documentation including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Assist in tracking project progress and quantities installed
- Coordinate with project teams and client representatives to ensure clear communication
- Support material tracking and procurement efforts as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years’ experience in construction, field engineering, or QC (heavy civil, utilities, or renewable energy preferred)
- Full-time travel position to various project sites.
- Preferred experience with utility scale solar and heavy civil projects.
- Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite and preferred experience with MS Project and Bluebeam.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
- Attention to detail, especially in documenting and tracking quality control and project progress.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

COMPENSATON AND BENEFITS:
- Annual Salary: $75,000 - $105,000 based on experience
