The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking a creative, organized, and passionate Performance Arts Director to lead and grow our youth and teen performing arts programs. This position is responsible for developing, promoting, and implementing high-quality theater productions, performing arts classes, and summer theater camps that inspire creativity, build confidence, and foster personal growth in participants of all ages.
The Performance Arts Director will oversee all aspects of the performing arts program, including production planning, curriculum development, staff supervision, marketing, fundraising, and community engagement. This role is ideal for an experienced performing arts professional who is committed to excellence, youth development, and the YMCA’s mission and values.
Essential Functions
- Direct and oversee all youth and teen theater productions, ensuring a high-quality experience for participants and audiences.
- Develop and implement performing arts classes and enrichment programs for a variety of age groups throughout the year.
- Manage all aspects of summer theater camps, including programming, staffing, and performances.
- Select productions and manage scripts, licensing agreements, rights, and royalties.
- Create and execute marketing and promotional strategies for auditions, performances, classes, and special events.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop theater staff, instructors, interns, and volunteers.
- Coordinate accompanists, musicians, technical support, and other production resources.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants and families through effective communication.
- Organize and coordinate parent volunteers during rehearsals and performance weeks.
- Support fundraising initiatives and special events that benefit the YMCA Performing Arts Department.
- Manage program resources and adhere to YMCA purchasing and financial procedures.
- Attend branch and association meetings, events, and community activities as required.
- Ensure performance spaces, equipment, and supplies are maintained in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
