The Hockomock Area YMCA is seeking a certified Yoga Instructor to join our community at the Invensys Foxboro Branch. This is an opportunity to guide individuals of all levels toward strength, balance, and connection—both on and off the mat.
We are looking for someone who brings not only technical skill, but also presence—an instructor who can create a space where participants feel supported, challenged, and inspired. The ideal candidate is dependable, knowledgeable in safe yoga practices, and genuinely invested in helping others grow.
Essential Functions
- Lead safe, engaging, and well-balanced yoga classes for participants of all abilities
- Demonstrate poses with proper alignment and clear, confident instruction
- Create a welcoming, inclusive environment that fosters connection and community
- Incorporate elements of mindfulness, breath work, and the philosophy of yoga into your teaching
- Build relationships with participants that encourage consistency and growth
- Promote classes and help grow participation through energy and authentic connection
- Ensure participant safety by following injury prevention practices and documenting any incidents
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting studio space after each class
- Communicate effectively with YMCA staff and leadership, including addressing member needs or concerns
- Coordinate class coverage by securing substitutes when needed
- Stay engaged through staff communications and meetings
Certifications
- Current Yoga Instructor Certification (required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (required within 30 days of hire)
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe yoga techniques, alignment, and modifications
- Understanding of basic fitness principles and injury prevention strategies
- Familiarity with group fitness instruction, including class design, cueing techniques, and the use of music, tempo, and rhythm
Instruction & Physical Ability
- Ability to safely and effectively demonstrate exercises relevant to the class style
- Capability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of participants with varying abilities and experience levels
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to build relationships and create a welcoming, inclusive class environment
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse individuals and groups
