What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dance Instructors position at Hockomock YMCA?
The Bernon Family Branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA is hiring Dance Instructors to teach preschool and school-age dance programs. Instructors are responsible for creating a positive, safe, engaging, and progressive environment for all participants.
Essential Functions
- Plans, teaches, and organizes all assigned classes according to current YMCA policies and procedures
- Maintains facility and all equipment, reporting all concerns to supervisor
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including those pertaining to child protection and emergency and safety (i.e. completes incident and accident reports)
- Performs administrative duties, as needed, including proper use of time clock, taking attendance, and tracking progress
- Supports the annual Reach Out For Youth campaign
- Attends all staff meetings and mandatory trainings
- Dance experience, either as a dancer, coach, or instructor
- Enjoys working with children
- First Aid, CPR certified or within first 90 days of employment
- Ability to spot participating athletes
- At least 16 years of age
- Ability to effectively communicate with participants, staff, and caretakers
- Friendly, outgoing, and personable instructor style
