Position Overview
Posnack School is seeking a skilled and dedicated Academic Resource Specialist to support student success in reading and mathematics across Grades K–6. This role focuses on providing targeted reading intervention for students in Grades K–2 who need support with foundational literacy skills, as well as accelerated math instruction for high-performing students in Grades 1–5.
The Academic Resource Specialist will work closely with classroom teachers and school leadership to use data-driven instruction, small-group support, and differentiated strategies to help students reach their highest potential. This position operates under the supervision of the Director of Academic Resources for the Lower School. The specialist will be responsible for implementing the established curriculum, developing lesson plans, administering assessments, recording grades, and communicating regularly with parents regarding student progress and academic needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide reading intervention for students in Grades K–2, focusing on foundational literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
- Support advanced math students in Grades 1–6 through enrichment and acceleration, including instruction in next grade-level math standards/curriculum.
- Thoughtfully integrate instructional technology—including emerging AI tools—into planning, collaboration, differentiation, and assessment, in alignment with the school’s educational philosophy.
- Deliver small-group and individualized instruction based on student needs and assessment data.
- Implement curriculum and develop lesson plans aligned with school academic standards.
- Administer assessments and monitor student progress to inform instruction and ensure academic growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and grades.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, goals, and support strategies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support instructional alignment and student achievement.
- Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Valid Elementary Education Certification
- Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in Grades K–6
- Strong knowledge of elementary reading instruction and math curriculum
- Experience using data and assessments to guide instruction
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Education, Literacy, or Curriculum & Instruction
- Reading or Literacy endorsement
- Experience providing reading intervention and math acceleration
Qualifications
The Lower School Teacher must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related field. Must have a valid FLDOE Teaching/Temporary Certificate for K-6. Two years of teaching experience preferred. Must be proficient in the use of instructional technology and online textbooks. Must be organized, capable, and able to multitask. Salary based on experience.
