What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Engineer position at HOB Industries Incorporated?
HOB Industries is looking for a Mechanical / Tooling Engineer who wants to become a well-rounded, hands-on manufacturing engineer.
This is a strong opportunity for recent graduates, early-career engineers, or experienced candidates looking to build broader manufacturing skills.
You will work across:
- Mechanical design
- Progressive die tooling
- CNC machining
- Wire EDM
- Grinding and precision manufacturing
- High-speed metal stamping
- Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Tool maintenance and improvement
- Production and process improvement
You will spend time both at the computer and on the manufacturing floor. You may design a component in SolidWorks, help build or modify it in the toolroom, watch it run in production, troubleshoot the results, and improve the design based on what you learn.
- Design and improve progressive stamping tools and components
- Troubleshoot tooling and production problems
- Work directly with toolmakers, machinists, operators, quality, and engineering
- Support tooling repair, maintenance, and modification
- Use SolidWorks, drawings, GD&T, and precision measurement
- Learn machining, grinding, EDM, stamping, and toolroom processes
- Help improve quality, reliability, efficiency, and tool life
- Take ownership of projects and see them through from concept to production
We are open to candidates with:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- An associate degree combined with relevant manufacturing experience
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, even if your background is unconventional
Experience with tooling, machining, SolidWorks, GD&T, or metal stamping is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.
What matters most is that you are:
- Mechanically curious
- Comfortable working with your hands
- Interested in how things are actually made
- Detail-oriented
- Willing to learn
- Able to solve problems methodically
- Interested in becoming more than a desk engineer
At HOB, engineers are not isolated from manufacturing.
You will work directly with experienced toolmakers, machinists, operators, and engineers and develop a broad understanding of how precision manufacturing actually works.
The goal is to develop engineers who can design, build, troubleshoot, improve, and lead.
You will see the impact of your work every day.
If this sounds like the kind of engineering career you are looking for, we encourage you to reach out — even if you do not meet every qualification listed.
We are especially interested in speaking with recent graduates, early-career engineers, or experienced candidates looking to build broader hands-on manufacturing skills.
