Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- The Supervisor of Coding oversees the revenue cycle coding workflow and supports a high level of coding accuracy and efficiency.
- He/she manages vendor inventories, coding Discharge Not Billed (DNB) to department targets, and accuracy audits.
- Builds relationships across functional areas to address documentation issues, redesign processes, improve efficiency, and ensure optimal results.
- Supports the Coding Manager with staffing and performance management and training of Coders.
- Provides timely feedback to all questions from Revenue Cycle, Coders and all Departments regarding all with accounts.
- Monitors changes in laws, regulations, and coding & documentation standards.
- Serves as a subject matter expert regarding coding and specifically ED and Observation charge capture.
- Abides by the standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by American Health Information Management Association and adheres to official coding guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma.
- Completion of a certified coding program or graduate of a CAHIM accredited HIT program required.
- Five years’ coding experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Experience in computer assisted coding preferred.
