The Heavy Equipment Driver is responsible for safe and timely transportation of agricultural and heavy equipment between dealership locations, customer sites, and manufacturer facilities. This role plays a critical part in supporting sales, service, and customer satisfaction by ensuring equipment is delivered professionally and in excellent condition.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment (tractors, combines, sprayers, implements, etc.).
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer.
- Ensure all equipment is properly secured in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Deliver equipment to customer locations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Coordinate delivery schedules with Sales, Service, and Parts departments.
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and obtain customer signatures as required.
- Report any equipment damage or mechanical concerns immediately.
- Assist with yard organization and equipment movement between locations as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned truck and trailer.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Acceptable driving record with no major violations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience hauling heavy equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of load securement regulations and DOT compliance.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb on/off equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Professional communication skills when interacting with customers.
- Ability to travel between dealership locations and customer sites.
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons.
