Job Summary


The Advanced Purchasing role focuses not only on basic procurement tasks but includes more strategic, analytical, and technical responsibilities. It is often found in industries like manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or tech, where procurement plays a critical role in the supply chain.


Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):


Program Purchasing Management

  • Sourcing programs cost tracking and management (NCI/TCI)
  • Develop BOM cost models for sourcing activities and lead PDC & Cross functional meetings (i.e. PDT, CFT, TFT, PJT)
  • Lead purchasing activities regarding sourcing strategies & Cost improvement activity and support the overall sourcing process
  • Work with Global PM organization (Meeting minute, Core Activity, Integrated Cost activity)

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support business goals.
  • Identify and qualify suppliers globally.
  • Lead RFQ (Request for Quotation) and RFI (Request for Information) processes.

Supplier Management & Development

  • Establish strong supplier relationships to ensure performance, reliability, and long-term collaboration.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and performance regularly (cost, quality, delivery, and innovation).
  • Support localization or dual-sourcing strategies as needed.

Cost Analysis & Negotiation

  • Analyze cost breakdowns and market trends to optimize purchase prices.
  • Conduct value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) and should-cost analysis.
  • Lead price negotiations and contract terms discussions with suppliers.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, R&D, quality, logistics, and finance teams to align purchasing with overall project requirements.
  • Participate in product development projects (e.g., during the prototype and pre-series phases).

Project Management

  • Support new product launches by ensuring timely supplier readiness and part availability.
  • Track project milestones related to purchasing and escalate risks or delays proactively.

Risk Management

  • Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain (e.g., single-source dependency, geopolitical instability, raw material availability).
  • Develop contingency plans for critical components.

Contract & Compliance Management

  • Draft, review, and manage supplier contracts and long-term agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, quality, and company-specific standards.

ERP & Data Management

  • Use ERP systems (like SAP, Oracle, etc.) for purchase order tracking, data analysis, and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Maintain clean and accurate purchasing data and documentation.


Qualifications:


Education and Experience:


4-year College Degree in Engineering (Preferred) or Business

7 years of Purchasing or Program Management related experience of automotive field


Skills and Competencies:


Cost structure analysis capability

Good negotiation & communication skills

Strong Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint) suite skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Ability to work as a team

Good English skills preferred (Writing and Speaking)


Working Conditions: This position typically operates in an office environment. Travel up to 15% may be required for new supplier development and supply management.


Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
