Purpose:
The Quality Assurance Technician supports overall product quality by monitoring assembly line rejects, investigating issues, and ensuring parts are properly tagged and dispositioned. This role provides timely feedback to Production, supports Engineering investigations, and helps maintain compliance with established quality standards.
Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
- Perform daily checks of assembly line rejects and provide timely feedback before parts leave the line.
- Support investigations in the tear-down area and assist Engineering teams with problem resolution.
- Provide support for special improvement and continuous quality projects.
- Ensure rejected parts are correctly dispositioned (scrap, Quality Market, shipping, or rework) and properly tagged.
- Generate accurate electronic reports of daily quality activities.
- Label bins for non-conforming parts and confirm that all bins have correct labels and certifications.
- Communicate immediately with production and work centers when issues are identified.
- Promote awareness of unlabeled or improperly dispositioned parts on the production floor.
- Provide guidance and oversight to Quality Auditors as needed.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of quality experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity with quality standards and inspection methods.
- Strong reading comprehension and analytical/mathematical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable with conflict resolution and receiving feedback.
- Demonstrated commitment to following procedures and policies.
- Team-oriented with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Legal Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to Quality Auditors.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing production facility.
- Exposure to moderate noise, moving machinery, and occasional variations in temperature.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, in accordance with company policy.
- Frequent interaction and collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
- May occasionally be required to work in meeting areas to complete documentation or attend meetings.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand and walk for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time with scheduled breaks).
- Willingness to work in an environment requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
